Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, February 27, 2023. Over 50 technocrats from 18 CCRIF Caribbean member countries and two regional organizations, met face-to-face in Miami over two days – February 16 and 17, 2023 – to deepen their knowledge and understanding of CCRIF’s parametric insurance models and products. CCRIF also took the opportunity to share with members the upgrades to its tropical cyclone, excess rainfall and earthquake models that are expected to underpin the Facility’s policies for the 2023/24 policy year which begins on June 1, 2023.

CCRIF SPC is pleased to announce that its member governments have renewed their parametric insurance coverage for tropical cyclones, excess rainfall and earthquakes, and the fisheries sector for the policy year 2022/23, which began on June 1, 2022. For the earthquake, tropical cyclone and excess rainfall policies, members ceded over US$1.2 billion in coverage – an increase of 10 per cent over the previous year. Thirteen member governments increased their coverage compared with the 2021/22 policy year.

Today, CCRIF and Guardian General Insurance Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding to offer individuals and organizations such as cooperatives and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and their members the ability to protect themselves against economic losses that result from extreme weather associated with wind and rain.
