An active Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) produced prolonged periods of rain/showers and thunderstorm activity over Trinidad and Tobago. According to Government officials, due to adverse weather, Trinidad received a full month’s worth of rain during two days (October 18 and 19) alone.
In the first days of October the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (in Spanish: Instituto Nicaragüense de Estudios Territoriales), indicated that the country remained under the simultaneous influence of two low pressure systems: one located in the Caribbean Sea near the northern border between Nicaragua and Honduras and the other in the Pacific Ocean west of San Juan de Sur.

Kirk was the 12th named tropical cyclone in the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season. It formed as a tropical storm over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean on 22 September 2018 at 1500UTC. Along its movement toward the east north-east, it was downgraded to an open trough on 24 September at 1500UTC and regenerated as a tropical storm on 26 September at 0900UTC.
Kirk was the 12th tropical cyclone in the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season. It formed as a tropical storm over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean on 22 September 2018 at 1500UTC. Along its movement toward the east north-east, it was downgraded to an open trough on 24 September at 1500UTC and regenerated as a tropical storm on 26 September at 0900UTC. Kirk presented a strong vertical sheared shape, with the maximum winds at the north and east of the centre.
A magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred at 05:45:50 UTC on 23 September 2018, (01:45:50 local time), at 3.3 km (2.0 mi) NW of Villa Elisa, Dominican Republic; 28.2 km (17.5 mi) NW of Mao, Dominican Republic and 26.0 km (16.2 mi) NNE of Sabaneta, Dominican Republic.
Isaac was the fifth tropical cyclone that reached the hurricane category in the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season. It formed as a tropical depression over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean on 7 September 2018 at 2100UTC. Thereafter it strengthened, becoming a tropical storm on 8 September at 2100UTC and a hurricane on 10 September at 0300UTC.
A magnitude 7.3 earthquake occurred at 21:31:46 UTC on 21 August 2018, (19:31:46 local time), at 45.7 km (28.4 mi) ENE of Carúpano, Venezuela; 108.5 km (67.4 mi) E of Porlamar, Venezuela and 71.0 km (44.1 mi) WNW of Güiria, Venezuela.
A magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred at 20:42:03 UTC on 27 July 2018, (14:42:03 local time), at 64.6 km (40.1 mi) SSW of Intipucá, El Salvador; 83.3 km (51.8 mi) SSE of Puerto El Triunfo, El Salvador and 85.5 km (53.1 mi) SSE of Usulután, El Salvador.
Beryl was the first tropical cyclone that reached the hurricane category in the 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season. It formed as a tropical depression in the Atlantic Ocean on 5 July 2018 at 1500UTC and it became a tropical storm on 5 July at 1830UTC. It reached a hurricane category 1 on 6 July at 0900UTC and kept this intensity until 7 July at 1500UTC, when it was downgraded to a tropical storm. Just before making landfall on the Leeward Islands, the system became an open trough.
