June 2, 2009  - All 16 Caribbean member governments renewed their catastrophe policies with the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility for the 2009/10 policy period. Member governments were able to take advantage of a 10% decrease in premium costs from the CCRIF by increasing coverage for hurricanes, earthquakes or both for the same premium as last year. Notably, rates also decreased by ten percent for the 2007/2008 policy period, making this year’s premium the lowest yet.

January 19, 2009 - International Aid and Trade which aims to build partnerships for effective humanitarian relief is specifically focused on procurement and logistics - getting the right supplies, services and personnel to the right place at the right time. It will take place on the 9-10 July and will involve 1,500+ individuals.

At the Insurance Day London Market Awards 2008 held on December 4, the world’s first and only multi-nation catastrophe risk fund, the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility, was named Transaction of the Year. This award comes hot on the heels of the CCRIF receiving the honour of Re/Insurance Initiative of the Year at the 2008 Review Worldwide Reinsurance Awards.

November 4, 2008—KINGSTON,The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) will host a workshop on parametric insurance and new product developments, as part of the annual Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management, to be held in Barbados from December 8-12, 2008.
